Moorfields Eye Charity is an independent charitable organisation with its own board of trustees, nine of whom have been elected with the other four appointment by Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

Andrew BallheimerAndrew is a qualified solicitor and global managing partner for Allen & Overy. He has also held senior roles at Allen & Overy in New York and in Tokyo. Andrew is a member of the Investment Committee.
Sir Thomas Boyd-Carpenter KBESir Thomas joined the NHS on his retirement from the Army and served as chairman of Moorfields Eye Hospital. He has held senior positions in the public and private sectors, including chairman of the Social Security Advisory Committee, chair of the Lord Chancellor’s Advisory Board on Family Law and director of People in Business. Sir Thomas is a member of the Grants Committee.
Tony BriamTony is a solicitor specialising in real estate, who retired as a partner of Clifford Chance in 2014. He chairs the Audit and Risk Committee and is also a trustee of CORE (a medical research charity).
Noland CarterNoland has worked in the investment management industry for more than 33 years, and is currently head of Heartwood Investment Management and its chief investment officer. Noland chairs the Investment Committee.
Lee-Ann Coleman PhDLee-Ann trained as a neuroscientist and held postdoctoral positions in the United States and at Oxford. Having left academia for scientific administration, she is now director of biomedical grants and career policy at the Academy of Medical Sciences. She is also an external assessor for the European Association of Research Managers and Administrators.  Lee-Ann chairs the Grants Committee.
Declan Flanagan FRCS FRCOphthDeclan is a consultant ophthalmologist, who specialises in medical retina treatments. He is also Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust's medical director, responsible for the professional leadership of the hospital's doctors, and for the quality and safety of our clinical care. Declan is a member of the Grants Committee.
Professor Ian GriersonIan is currently emeritus professor of ophthalmology in the department of Eye and Vision Sciences, University of Liverpool and a fellow of the Royal Society of Pathologists. He also holds an honorary professorship in optometry at the University of Wales. Ian is a member of the Grants Committee and chair of the Scientific Advisory Panel.
Vicky HastingsVicky has worked in the investment management industry for over 25 years and has held positions including chief investment officer at Merrill Lynch Private Investors and investment director at JO Hambro Capital Management. She also sits on the board of several investment trusts. Vicky is a member of the Investment Committee and the Fundraising and Communications Committee.
John Hooper CBEJohn has had a 54-year career in marketing communications, principally as founder of Clarke Hooper plc. He is a former director general of the Incorporated Society of British Advertisers, director of the World Federation of Advertisers, chairman and trustee of the Lord’s Taverners and chairman of St John’s Ambulance London District. John is a Freeman of the City of London, court assistant of the Worshipful Companies of Marketors and chair of its Charitable Trust. He chairs the Fundraising and Communications Committee.
Colin MacLean OBE, MVSc, FRCVSColin trained as a veterinarian, before moving into business with Unilever. He held senior positions at Glaxo, before joining the Meat and Livestock Commission as technical director and then director general. He was appointed non-executive director of Berkshire Health Authority and subsequently became chair of the Royal Berkshire and Battle Hospitals NHS Trust, where he led the hospitals to foundation status. He is a member of the Audit and Risk Committee.
David ProbertDavid is chief executive of Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. He was previously director of strategic development at University College London NHS Foundation Trust and chief operating officer at the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust. He is a member of the Fundraising and Communications Committee.
Dr Virginia Spence-JonesVirginia is a maxillofacial surgeon. She is also a trustee of The Friends of Moorfields and sits on the Fundraising and Communications Committee.
Mervyn WalkerMervyn was most recently group HR director for Mondi plc and Anglo American plc. He now holds a number of non-executive positions, including as board member of HMRC and chair of the UK Pensions Schemes for Amec Foster Wheeler plc. Mervyn chairs the Moorfields Eye Charity Board and is a member of the Audit and Risk Committee.
