Moorfields Eye Charity is delighted to welcome two new members to its board of trustees. Johanna Moss, director of strategy and business development at Moorfields Eye Hospital, and Dr Robert Jones, a distinguished physiotherapist and governor of Moorfields, joined the Moorfields Eye Charity board on 7 June 2017. Jo and Rob bring a wealth of knowledge and experience of the health sector and the NHS to their roles.
I am honoured to be joining the trustees of the Moorfields Eye Charity. I’ve had the privilege of working closely with the charity team since starting at Moorfields, and I now look forward to helping shape its vision, as the charity continues to provide much needed support for the world class and groundbreaking research and treatments provided by Moorfields.
I am delighted to be joining the board and look forward to making a contribution. I am a registered blind person and have been a patient at Moorfields for many years, serving as a patient governor since 2003/4 and am very committed to working for the MEC as a trustee.
Jo and Robert will join 13 other trustees on the board, where their skills and experience alongside other members will bring an invaluable depth and diversity of expertise to the work of Moorfields Eye Charity, ensuring a continuing passion and commitment to improving healthcare and changing lives. The full board meets four times a year, with the next meeting taking place on 19 July 2017.
Robert Dufton, chief executive of Moorfields Eye Charity, said:
I welcome the appointment of Rob and Jo as trustees of Moorfields Eye Charity. Rob has had a long and distinguished career in the health sector. His broad experience, including his perspective on the needs of patients, will be very valuable to us. Jo has been leading Moorfields Eye Hospital’s work to refresh its strategy, which will be helpful as the trustees and staff of the charity are starting to identify its future strategic aims so that it can maximise its support for Moorfields Eye Hospital for the benefit of patients.
