Uveitis is an inflammation of the middle layer of the eye which can cause lasting damage to people’s sight. Currently uveitis is usually treated by drugs, but these can cause side effects. My research is aimed at finding better treatments, including better medications and localised treatments which administer medications direct to the eye.
- Carlos Pavesio, consultant ophthalmologist
Elaina’s uveitis was first diagnosed when she was six years old and since then the disease has flared up periodically, making her central vision hazy and blurry.
Some of the medications Elaina has been given have come with unpleasant emotional and physical side effects. That is why she welcomes the work Carlos Pavesio is doing to find ways to control the inflammation without side effects.
With your regular support we can give Elaina and many other people the hope of controlling their uveitis while living normal, happy lives.
