A gift in your will

By leaving a gift in your will to Moorfields Eye Charity you are helping to make a lasting difference to the future of eye care in the UK and around the world.

Legacies have played a vital role in supporting Moorfields since it opened in 1805 and today they allow the hospital to buy specialist equipment, fund ground breaking research and provide enhanced facilities that would otherwise be unaffordable under the NHS. Your support means that we can continue to provide this service.

By leaving a gift to Moorfields, you are creating a lifeline that allow us to plan for the future, meet the growing demand for our services and help shape the future of eye care.

I am 75 and statistically I should live another 10 years. That’s more than 30,000 days seeing our world. How should I value this gift of sight? A gift that says 'thank you' and will help others enjoy a most precious sense that I have perhaps taken for granted.

John Hooper, Trustee of Moorfields Eye Charity

    Eye donation: a precious gift

As well as funding our work, you can directly help to save someone’s sight. Every year, Moorfields Eye Hospital carries out thousands of corneal transplants that would not be possible without the generosity of our tissue donors.

The Yes Eye Can eye donation project saves sight and makes research into new treatments possible. To discuss whether this precious gift is right for you, please contact the Eye Bank team on 020 7253 1199.

How your support can make a difference Legacy gifts provide vital funds to enable Moorfields to meet its most urgent and pressing needs. When we were in danger of losing one of our pre-eminent research programmes, Cells for Sight, led by Professor Julie Daniels to another institution, an unexpected legacy gift gave us the resources we needed to keep Julie and her team at Moorfields. The Cells for Sight Team has since harnessed the potential of stem cells to develop and deliver novel cell-based therapies and anti-scarring strategies for patients with blinding corneal and conjunctival disease, to the benefit of hundreds of Moorfields patients.
