Moorfields Eye Hospital and the UCL Institute of Ophthalmology have an exciting, once in a generation opportunity to create a state of the art integrated treatment, research and education centre in central London, which will benefit both patients and those with sight problems worldwide. Moorfields Eye Charity, in partnership with UCL, is in the early stages of a major campaign to raise £100 million in support of this initiative. £75m will support the capital element and £25m will enhance and bolster the partnership’s research programme ahead of the move.
We are seeking two development managers to secure major gifts from high net worth individuals, charitable foundations and corporates. The post holders will play key roles in the delivery of our landmark £100 million campaign.
With experience in a donor facing fundraising role, you will have a successful track record in securing gifts at the five figure level. You have excellent relationship building skills, likely gained in a complex environment working with academics or highly trained specialists. You are confident in your ability to operate externally as an ambassador of Moorfields, and have the negotiation and diplomacy skills to do the same with internal audiences within the hospital and the institute. Critical to your success will be your positive and proactive approach to fundraising, and your knowledge of best practice in the field. An empathy for and understanding of the medical or health sector would be advantageous.
